    Caliber???

This is a pretty good damn video. I own several pellet rifles but i recentley have been shooting at 200 yards with a .177 Remington Vantage 1200 Air Rifle using Gamo rounds that have a red tip. They have been getting into a chest size Bullseye. I am not braggging, just wanna let people know pellet rifles are not always for backyard plinking. they have promise.
Good job on the video dood. :)

Good video. I have been reading your stuff on AirgunBBS as well. I like the long range stuff for the same reasons as you do, streching the limits.
I am considering a new PCP and might go for a Daystate MK4 or BSA r-10. I definatly want my new airgun to be regulated or at least give me constant powereadings. As you say the margins are small at long distances as these.
Keep the videos coming an also show us your setup, positioning, etc. And let us all push each other to get the good resaults !

what kind of rifle you using?

  5. Hesam0000 says:

What I usually did when hunting long-range, I first picked a different target as far as my main target, but far enough from my main target so it doesn’t scare it away, then I fired a test-shot to see where it hits the ground. After seeing the drop and wind-effect I used that measurement on main target. It usually worked. With my 5.5mm rifle pellet dropped only about 2″ in 20 yards,4″ in 30. 3feet in 100!

then when im testing my distance reading skills, i will first estimate the distance, then i refer to the data book for the Amount of elevation to Dial & after the shot i will confirm if i was right or wrong. if you estimate less than actual Dist you are low, otherwise you are high. this assuming wind is dead.

  7. flammo69 says:

As an estimation i could try to estimate the distance, dial the elevation based on that estimation however i want to know dat the value for ex.150yards is a real value for 150 yards so if i miss i know its my fault not the data i gathered.

  8. flammo69 says:

if i want to do a distance estimation test, thats another test however i feel all data entered in a data book must be precise and not based on feel. i believe it must be the scientific part about this so when i want to refer to it, i have something which is Concrete and precise. Most of this is actually data gathering & i want the inputs to be right.

abit like trying to use Standard mil-dot for ranging beyond 1000yards, its not accurate enough as dat 308 win is droping alot at that distance. so if you estimate 1050 instead of 1095 you would miss. same in this instance i feel.

  10. flammo69 says:

Experience is always an asset however i believe that when one stretches the limits of any caliber, the parameters have to be exact at least those you can standardise such as distance. wind is not in your control. i believe when a pellet is dropping a couple of inches per 5-10yards it is not enough to be within +/-15yards as you will miss.

  11. Hesam0000 says:

I also always try to stretch the capablities but as far as adjustments for wind, distance I usually estimate based on experience. After firing over 1000 boxes of pellets I kinda know where it’s gonna land. For the wind direction and speed I usually look at the nearest tree. You’re right about the 1200 yard comparison.

  12. flammo69 says:

obviously its easier to do it with the 300RUM but you’re going for the challenge not to find the easy way out.

  13. flammo69 says:

personally it doesn’t matter what caliber you are shooting. the point here is stretching the capabilities to the maximum through the use of gathering ballistic data, testing and recording just as you would do with a precision rifle for F Class, practical rifle or the sort.
if you had to compare it, it would be like shooting Federal goldmedal match 175gr load at 1200yards. same amount of elevation needed.

I started shooting highpower airrifles at age 5, owned my first rifle at 8 and by the age 14 I could hit a coin in the air with my 5.5mm (.22)German-made Diana rifle. But the longest hit I’ve made was a pigeon over the roof of a school 6 houses away (110 yards) with my inexpensive but accurate Chinese SMK.
It was a tough, rainbow shot in the snow.
Now I mostly use 22LR Marlin for target.

  15. spiceyvideo says:

Yes, we use both yards and feet, FYI one yard equals exactly three feet.

  16. futbolamericano1250 says:

damn that is some impressive shooting for an air rifle. i have an gamo hunter 1250 (before they turned it into the hunter extreme and took away .22 caliber). mine spits a 14.3gr. crossman premier out the barrel at 944fps. it recoils about the same as a .22MAG or .17HMR. but these days all scopes are structured to withstand the double recoil of a springer. i can get 5 inch groups at 130 yards on a calm day but thats the farthest i’ve ever shot

  17. 2RCHA says:

Please give us a make, and model of the gun you were using as well as the brand, and weight of the pellet, and what kind of hold-over did you have(if any?), I make some pretty long shot’s w/ my air-rifle’s, My “QB-78-Deluxe” loaded w/ “H&N” Rund-Kugeln’s @16gr.get’s excellent distance, but Skenco Type 1′s @11gr. give me the best distance yet.

  18. pooheadsam says:

man, that pellet is going 900 fps in .22, even though i have to aim alot above it, it still gets the job done. just cus u got a fancy precharge that prolly cost twice as much as the 48, doesnt mean you can rag on springers. plus i can come mighty close to a target at 330 yards and a 200 the group is easily inside a window. i use crossman premier hollow point, i bet the superdome would e even more accurate and i got an rws 4-16×50 scope, its airgun rated.

  19. NTEESUPREME says:

Have you done this yourself? What kind of scope & pellets are you using. What caliber & is the gun tuned? Because a normal 48 in .22cal would have at least a 330ft. drop.

  20. flammo69 says:

the diana’s at best can go to 30ft/lbs with enough recoil to be punishing that reticle! im not sure if you speak of Yards or Feet, because 200 yards with a Springer is a very long way! i dial enough elevation for my 31grain pellet that i see it arching its way about 2metres above the line of sight with about 57ft/lbs of muzzle energy.
im curios on your shooting, post up a video so you can share it.

    Nice shooting!!
170 is definitely a far piece for an air rifle…
    What are you using?
I have a Gamo Whisper and I’m able to get some pretty tight groups @ 100 (the farthest my range allows)…
Hoping to try some longer distances soon…

  22. flammo69 says:

i’ve seen gamo’s around. however one must point out that spring and pcp rifles are a different ball game altogether.31grain pellets would fatigue any spring. you need consistent air and no double recoil. double recoil ruins reticles. its worse than a recoil from belted magnums because it works two way.i suggest you get one of these korean sweeties, theyre fairly cheap over there. ide love to Visit Texas, ive heard you have alot of wild boars there!:)

  23. naughty00e says:

Oh I love shooting tiles! I want to correspond more. Good luck. I have a Gamo .177 air rifle made in Spain, it is lots of fun and works well in hot Texas weather.
